We do MIG, TIG and Resistance/Spot Welding

Welding is a crucial joining process used in manufacturing to fuse two or more pieces of metal together, creating a strong and permanent bond. CAN TECH Laser and Metals Inc. (CTL) offers several welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and Resistance/Spot Welding. Let’s explore each of these welding methods:

  1. MIG Welding (Metal Inert Gas Welding): MIG welding, also known as Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), involves using a continuous consumable wire electrode and an inert gas (such as argon or a mixture of argon and carbon dioxide) to shield the weld pool from atmospheric contamination. The wire is fed through a welding gun, and an electric arc is created between the wire and the workpiece, melting both the wire and the base metal. As the weld pool cools, the melted materials fuse together, creating a strong bond. MIG welding is known for its speed and ease of use, making it suitable for various applications and metal types.

  2. TIG Welding (Tungsten Inert Gas Welding): TIG welding, also called Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), utilizes a non-consumable tungsten electrode to create the arc. An inert gas, such as argon, is used to shield the weld area from atmospheric contamination. Unlike MIG welding, a separate filler metal may be added to the weld pool manually. TIG welding offers excellent control over the heat and is commonly used for welding thin materials, exotic metals, and critical applications where precision and high-quality welds are essential.

  3. Resistance/Spot Welding: Resistance or spot welding is a method of joining two or more metal pieces by applying pressure and passing an electric current through the joint. The current causes the metal to heat up rapidly, and the heat, combined with pressure, fuses the materials together at specific spots. Spot welding is commonly used in automotive manufacturing, sheet metal fabrication, and various industrial applications where rapid and efficient welding of overlapping metal sheets is required.

By offering MIG, TIG, and Resistance/Spot Welding services, CTL can accommodate a wide range of welding needs for its customers. Each welding technique has its advantages and is suitable for specific applications, materials, and project requirements. With these welding capabilities, CTL can provide customized welding solutions that meet industry standards and customer specifications.
